Care for our seniors

The Green Party will uphold your dignity and autonomy by prioritising the support which enables equitable and fulfilling lives.

Every senior should be valued, connected and able to live with dignity. However, Christopher Luxon and his Government have sidelined your needs, and we have been told that many of you find yourselves without the care and support you need. Some of you have had nowhere to turn.

The Green Party envisions communities where you are recognised and celebrated as leaders and knowledge holders.

This is a future where homes are warm, accessible and designed for connection across generations, while community spaces and marae-based centres foster belonging, learning and support.

No senior should suffer from energy hardship over the winter months, so our recent, “power for all of us” announcement will ensure that your power bills are lower. See our website www.greens.org.nz/power_for_all_of_us. We will expand on Warmer Kiwi Homes.

Care systems should be equitable, culturally grounded, and responsive, ensuring Māori, Pacific peoples and diverse communities can access services that reflect our shared values and tikanga.

Despite being in opposition, we have proved over the last three years that we listen to you and will do everything we can to ensure that you thrive with dignity and autonomy in vibrant, intergenerational communities, ensuring that ageing is a positive process.

We are proud to have specific policies for our seniors, which are on our website: at www.greens.org.nz/manifesto_2026_seniors.

This November, choose a Party who will continue to be a champion for your rights and who will protect the planet for our mokopuna. Party Vote Green.
