Kerry Moshiem’s accountancy background, together with her love of netball, have meant quick reflexes plus an aptitude for mental arithmetic. These are just the kind of strengths needed for her new role at the Grey Power Federation office in Pukekohe.
Largely concerned with database entry and, of course, answering the many queries from members across the country, Kerry joined long-time staff member, Charlotte Kozanic, just ahead of this year’s national AGM.
Both she and Charlotte attended the three-day meeting, which Kerry says proved invaluable for her as a ‘newbie’.
“The AGM gave me a good grounding and understanding of Grey Power as a whole – how the Board works and how the associations operate.”
Wide experience in medium to large business practices, means Kerry has swiftly adapted to her new role in administration and is enjoying the challenges of the Federation’s database upgrade.
“However, just prior to joining the team I was a teacher aide at Tuakau Primary School. This was a change I thoroughly enjoyed especially as my husband and I have four school-age daughters, aged 10 to 16 years, which keeps us on our toes!”
Although she has lived much of her life in the Franklin district, Kerry also lived and worked in London, during which time she travelled extensively throughout Europe.
“Those experiences – working in different environments and meeting people from all walks of life – have helped enormously in my career giving me fresh insights into people and workplaces.”
A keen netballer until her early 30’s, these days Kerry coaches netball in Pukekohe and is also heavily involved in her daughters’ athletic interests – all show prowess in track and field events and cross country.
“Life is busy, that’s for sure, but I’m really enjoying my work at Grey Power,” she says. “The team here has really made me welcome and I feel I have found my new niche.”
