The golden years – living well within

By Linda Cholmondeley Smith

This offering is a springboard for looking into the inner dynamics that make each of us who we are. From conception, our unique qualities and characteristics shape us into who we are, how we react, respond, give and take; and see, relate, judge and help others.

Most of us have lived busy lives with so much of our focus on the external that we’ve rarely had any inner awareness of what’s happening within us at any given time; never mind being aware of how we respond and what makes us respond the way we do to a given situation.

Our title is drawn from “Living” is to be alive, to breathe; “Well” is to be in good health, thriving, glowing and “Within” is inside, our interior. So “Living Well Within” is experiencing the unseen essence within us.

Because once we have touched this in ourselves, healing of old wounds and forgiveness can take place, friendships can be rekindled, loneliness can fade and families can come together. It begins within each of us and with awareness we can choose how we respond to life and how we live it.

Many of today’s world leaders and business people strive to become more conscious in how they relate and operate their businesses; a process often termed “inner engineering” or “conscious leadership”.

This exploration of inner awareness is actually for all of us because we have seen many changes affecting us throughout our lives and seemingly quite accelerated over the past several years. Most of us don’t like changes caused by external forces. As a species, we don’t adapt to change very easily. Consequently, millions of people worldwide are suffering from stress and anxiety. How does this play out?

“Living Well Within” is experiencing the unseen essence within us. Once we have touched this in ourselves, healing of old wounds and forgiveness can take place, friendships can be rekindled, loneliness can fade and families can come together.

Stresses everywhere

We can see stresses everywhere: road rage, violence and abuse on the increase, financial pressures, addictions, to name but a few. The end result is over 300 million people worldwide are suffering from depression and this number doesn’t include countries like Africa and India for which the World Health Organisation has no statistics.

This is our greatest human “pandemic” and healing depression is the single greatest human need right now.

Mahatma Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see”. Very simple yet very profound. There would not be a depression pandemic in our world if we understood the essence of this statement.

Simply put this “Living Well Within” offering of knowledge and practices can change your life leading to a happy, loving, more aware and productive you regardless of age.

There is so much separation, anger and suffering in our world today. We see it in our family relationships, in our communities, organisations, and politics around the world.

As humans it’s important that we become aware of the need for peace in our hearts.

Your individual peace is world peace. When we awaken to the beautiful state of peace within our consciousness in meditation, we generate a powerful force field that can truly minimize war, communal conflict and violence towards the innocent.

We become instruments of peace. Our family becomes a haven of peace.

Individual transformation leads to world transformation.

This is a gift to all who would like to be the very best of you.
