They know how to ‘do Christmas’ in this part of the world … and we’ll find ourselves in the middle of some of the oldest and most famous Christmas Markets on the planet!
From Prague, fuelled with a warm cup of svařené (mulled wine), we head to Nuremberg (think medieval ramparts, watchtowers and gates). There, we begin our journey along the Blue Danube – sailing into the heart of romantic Regensburg … charming Passau (with a side-trip to Salzburg and ‘The Sound of Music’) … Linz (founded by the Romans, later home of Hapsburg Emperor Friedrich III) … Melk (with its magnificent Abbey, in the achingly beautiful Wachau Valley) … and stunning Vienna (famous for its iconic Opera House, its Schönbrunn Castle, and its delicious pastries)!
