It was with great regret that the resignation of our president, Gayle Chambers, was accepted at the May meeting of the Grey Power Federation Board.
Gayle has served her two years as national president with tremendous wisdom, enthusiasm and commitment to ensuring the organisation becomes even more effective in its role as the voice for older people in New Zealand.
Recently, Gayle had a total hip replacement which resulted in nerve damage, causing severe immobility and requiring a lengthy recovery. Her decision to resign has not been made lightly, but under the current circumstances she feels she is unable to give the role the attention and commitment it deserves.
On behalf of Grey Power Federation, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Gayle for her dedication and service during her tenure as national president. We wish her all the very best for her recovery and hope there may be opportunities to work together again in the future.
In the interim, I will serve as acting president until the elections at the upcoming annual general meeting. The Board would also like to assure all Grey Power associations and members that the Federation is continuing to operate effectively and remains committed to supporting and advocating forolder New Zealanders.
David Marshall, National
Vice-President/Acting President
