This will be my last report as Grey Power National President.
As many of you are aware at last issue I was still waiting on a right leg, total hip replacement, which I have now had. However, in the latter stages of my wait time, the nerve in the same leg stopped ‘firing’ which has severely impacted my mobility.

I am currently in hospital having intensive physiotherapy to hopefully rejuvenate the nerve. I will be in hospital for some time and will then continue physio at home over several months.
The decision to not put my name forward for president at the June AGM has been a very difficult, but I could not fulfil the role adequately if I was re-elected.
With Grey Power celebrating 40 years in 2026 the current Federation board has worked very hard over the last two years to ensure the organisation will be a force to be reckoned with over the next 40 years.
I would like to thank all board and off-board members, office staff, and the wonderful associations and members I have worked with over the last two years. I wish you all the best in your endeavours and urge you to continue advocating on behalf of Kiwi seniors so their needs and voice are not ignored.
I will still take keen interest in Grey Power and hope to take on a minor role in the future.
My kindest regards
Gayle Chambers
