Taranaki Fringe Garden Festival

Gardens with passion

The Taranaki Fringe Garden Festival showcases a remarkable collection of real gardens, designed to appeal to people from all walks of life.

What sets this event apart is the warm and welcoming nature of the hosts, who take great joy in sharing their passion for gardening. As visitors meander through the gardens, they are greeted with friendly faces, delightful stories, and helpful advice.

The festival proudly presents 43 private gardens this year, offering a delightful assortment of natural beauty.

Additionally, visitors can explore artisan places of interest featuring exquisite jewellery, sculptures and pottery. An opportunity to immerse oneself in the region’s heritage awaits at the Hurworth Cottage, and train rides along the historic railway line add a nostalgia.
With its warm hospitality, breathtaking landscapes, and an abundance of inspiration, the Taranaki Fringe Garden Festival is an extraordinary celebration of nature’s beauty and the passion of dedicated gardeners. It invites everyone, from near and far, to immerse themselves in the wonders of these remarkable gardens and create lasting memories.

We’re committed to keeping things personal, and accessible. Entry to any of our gardens is $2.00, as it was when we started 19 festivals ago.

We acknowledge and thank all the supporters, volunteers, gardeners and others at the Fringe who have contributed their time and energy to what we do and to allow us to keep prices at that level.

Our aim has always been the same – to showcase practical and inspiring ideas that people can create in their own gardens for themselves on an achievable budget.
