Grey Power continues to receive requests from members who are being challenged by the requirement for a cognitive test when applying to their GP for licence renewals.
This is NOT a legal requirement, but a choice which some GPs and GP practices have made.
It has caused enormous stress and confusion, as well as significant costs for many people.
Our submission to NZTA is available online at the Federation website if you want more information and to also read some of the horror stories experienced by some of our members. There were around 70 submissions to NZTA on this topic and we expect to receive a consultation feedback document shortly.
The NZTA team are already working on some options to improve the situation, and have committed to further consultations to find more acceptable solutions. We will continue to update you as more information comes to hand.
In the meantime, grateful thanks for your great feedback and individual stories.
Check our website www.greypower.co.nz and Facebook page – www.facebook.com/greypowernz for updates.

National Vice-President
