Your voice counts

For decades, older New Zealanders have shaped this country. They’ve built businesses, raised families, volunteered in our communities, and supported the economy through good times and hard ones. They know the value of fairness – because they live it.

But many seniors in New Zealand today are quietly facing an uphill battle – and that’s not right. Everyday living costs are rising. Insurance and energy bills are harder to manage, and trying to get a doctor’s appointment can be a nightmare.

Many seniors feel that this is ‘just the way things are’ so they remain as the ‘silent generation’. A growing group wants to change that and 2026 is the year to do it.
Fairness for Seniors is a non-partisan movement focused on three core principles:

  1. Fair costs for everyday living
  2. Fair, affordable and accessible care
  3. Fair consumer protection

This isn’t about party politics – it’s about ensuring that policies affecting seniors are transparent, balanced and humane.

When legislation changes – whether around retirement living, consumer rights, or accessible care – public submissions matter. Our political leaders pay attention when large numbers of people speak clearly and respectfully.

That’s why Fairness for Seniors is inviting New Zealand seniors to sign up in support. Adding your name is free and signals that fairness matters to you.
Supporters can:

  • Tell us what they think needs to be changed
  • Stay informed about developments affecting seniors
  • Read stories from others navigating similar challenges
  • See how political parties respond to fairness issues

Grey Power members understand the importance of collective voice. When we stand together, we are heard more clearly.

New Zealand’s senior population is growing rapidly. By 2035, one in four New Zealanders will be over 65 years of age, which means senior voices should not be marginal, they should be central.

If you believe in practical fairness, in reasonable costs, accessible care, consumer protection and respectful policy, then your support matters.

You don’t have to campaign. You don’t have to protest. You simply add your voice.

Because our voice still counts – and together seniors can create a fairer society for all.
