Elaine McGlinchey from the Kawerau Grey Power Association recently came across an organisation called, Living Streets Aotearoa, which promotes wide accessibility for all.
She writes: “To bring attention to the common problem of people parking their cars across footpaths the group has come up with ‘Yellow Feet’ cards to place under an offending vehicle’s windscreen wiper.
“I have issued some to friends who use mobility scooters and they are pleased to report that regular offending in their area has stopped and people are actually parking in their own driveways.”
Elaine suggests anyone interested in using the system should contact Living Streets Aotearoa direct for a supply of ‘Yellow Feet’ cards. She says they are free of charge but a donation is welcomed.
