Grey Power Federation’s annual general meeting is all set to go this month [June] with a number of issues up for discussion.
In the time I have been president, I have taken keen interest in association and board member views and comments on the current board structure.
Subsequently, this will be a key area of focus at the AGM where a proposal from the board will be put to the vote.
The outcome will decide whether we move in a forward direction or stay as we are with none of the concerns being removed.
Another major item will be the launch of the new Grey Power logo. Across the country a variety of owl logos are being used and this doesn’t demonstrate the strength of our brand.
Following the launch of the new logo, there will be a marketing campaign to showcase and promote the new branding.
Of course, as usual, the AGM will host some exciting key note speakers, including the Rt Hon Winston Peters; Grey Power Electricity CEO, Sharnie Warren; Aged Care Commissioner, Carolyn Cooper; and James Whittaker from Resonate Hearing, one of our new sponsors.
They all bring their expertise and information to our forum, giving us much to think on.
For the first time, the board will also introduce three Association awards for initiatives which benefit Grey Power members, and all seniors in their communities.
To make the awards fair and equitable, associations which have up to 500 members, 1500 members or more than 1500 members will each qualify for one award.
Once again, there is much to consider, debate and celebrate at the AGM. As I write this, I am looking forward to catching up with delegates and other members at the meeting. What’s more, as well as greeting attendees, I am full of anticipation that this year’s meeting will see some positive outcomes for the future.
