Taranaki’s passionate gardeners had little time to sit back and smell the flowers ahead of November. Most were down on their knees, fork and towel in hand, preparing for the annual Taranaki Fringe Garden Festival.

And, their hard work paid off. Gardens were in full bloom and, despite a few days of rain, visitors turned out in huge numbers to see ‘real gardens for real people.’

Organiser, Anne Clough says there were more than 30,000 visits to 40 gardens showcasing many different planting styles.

“This was our 20th festival and participating gardeners from across the region outdid themselves, inspiring others.

“I’m already looking ahead to next year and hope we see Grey Power members turning out to enjoy the event.
